MESA’s first meeting:
I attended MESA’s first board meeting. We met at the Alumni Center and were given a tour by one of SDSU’s event coordinators. She showed us some of the venues here at SDSU and also answered a lot of our HTM related questions. Afterwards we went to a room and introduced ourselves by playing 2 truths and a lie. We ate pizza while learning about the organization and the board members. This was the first time I heard about some of the national and regional trips that are offered in the HTM program. I was intrigued by the LA trip on Oct 24th but I unfortunately had an event planned that day and couldn’t attend. I'm looking forward to future events and hopefully getting more involved in HTM trips and events next year.
NSMH’s Christmas White Elephant:
I attended NSMH’s Christmas White Elephant on December 1st. I hadn’t attended any NSMH meetings before so it was my first time meeting the majority of the board members. It was fun to go around and introduce ourselves and it was even more fun planning white elephant. I had only played once before and so I was a little forgetful on the rules but once we started playing, I began to remember. There were a few popular items such as a Santa coat, a batman blanket, a plush pillow and a Starbucks gift card, and even Nerf guns. I wanted the plush pillow and the Starbucks gift card but unfortunately when it came to my turn, it had already been stolen 3 times, meaning it couldn’t be stolen again. There were also some funny gag gifts such as toothpaste, soap, and a pineapple. I ended up leaving with a Starbucks gift card which I was content with. Overall, the night was a fun way to meet some other HTM students and a great kick start to the holiday season.
